G Valley Time Dictionary – 99

The History of G Valley

The History of G Valley

G Valley Time Dictionary – 99 is a time dictionary that unravels the folds of memories embedded in space and time. Through 99 words, the memories of the former industrial complex are unveiled within the present-day G Valley, creating an overlapping narrative between past and present. This intersection reflects the endless gap between the two, as described by historian E. H. Carr, and becomes a historical tool that fosters dialogue.

This exhibition serves as a memory of the industrial complex area, a significant space in the modern industrial history of Korea, where this memory exists as both the present and the future. Moving beyond traditional exhibitions focused on diachronic themes—such as the reproduction of memory, the natural history of events, and long narratives—this exhibition fosters conversations between citizens about the past and future. It encourages consensus across generations and serves as an opportunity to reaffirm the cultural and historical foundation of our existence, while also addressing social and political dimensions.
